Throughout 2018, our office will be celebrating a history that is rich in service. We have collaborated with many businesses over the last 50 years and we look forward to developing many more relationship in the future. Throughout the year we will be highlighting some of the partnerships that we have with local businesses.
Duran and Sherman Orthodontics were one of the first offices in Texas to have a state-of-the-art computer system. Staff members still remember implementing the new technology and the resourcefulness it brought to the practice. Having a dependable company on days when the tech world just isn't on your side is valuable while operating alongside this evolving workforce.
We would like to spotlight, CPU of Longview for their continued support and friendship with our practice for the past 20 years.
In 1996, Keene Guidry began a business that has provided the people of East Texas with fast, friendly, affordable, and reliable computer repair and quality retail computer parts. With many requests throughout the day, this company is able to delegate and resolve each one while always treating us with priority.
*Thank you to Keene and his team for always being there through the years for Sherman and Briscoe Orthodontics.

We want to wish our amazing clinical coordinator, Tracey, a Happy Happy Birthday. For those of you who don’t know Tracey, she has been with us since 1987 which means she will be celebrating her 30th anniversary with us this year.
Every day she does a wonderful job of making sure our practice runs efficiently and smoothly. Her ultimate personal goal is that each of her patients feels they were treated with a professional gentleness, compassion and optimal care.
She loves to spend time with her family and her four grandchildren and is actively involved in her church, Walnut Creek Baptist Church, where she serves on the mission team there.
Here is a little information from Tracey on the mission:
I have been given the awesome opportunity to serve in Guatemala at the Village of Hope Orphanage for the past few years. This facility is like no other because it is not an institutionalized setting for orphans but a place where children can experience faith, family and a future. Each child is placed in a home with a set of Guatemalan parents who care for the child just as if they were their very own. They are taught about Jesus Christ and the hope that is received once salvation is accepted. They are given the opportunity to be schooled and taught a trade so that they can eventually leave and become independent, self-sufficient citizens of their country. I have traveled there many times to serve in all types of aspects. I was just there in December and assisted the staff in preparing for Christmas at Village of Hope. We also traveled to nearby villages to share the gospel and give small gifts to those families as well. I could go on and on about the Village of Hope and the amazing Block family that heard the call of God and said yes!
If you or your church would like to partner with or learn more about this amazing ministry please see the link http://www.villageofhopeguatemala.com/
We are so grateful to have Tracey as part of our team, and hope today is one of her best birthdays yet. Happy Birthday Tracey!!

Did you know there are hundreds of companies located all over the world that make orthodontic braces? (the brackets and wires we use to move your teeth and transform your smile)
Some braces come from countries such as China or Taiwan, while others come from Germany or Spain for example.
You will be happy to know that at Sherman and Briscoe Orthodontics, our braces come from 2 of the most trusted names in the orthodontic field:
- American Orthodontics
- 3M -- Yes, the Post-it note and Scotch tape people who, believe it or not, know a thing or two about keeping brackets glued to teeth
American Orthodontics was founded in 1968 (just like our practice) in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, where they still make all their braces today. Some of their employees have even been with them for over 30 years! (just like our practice too).
We are proud to say that our braces come from these two industry leaders. Keep an eye out for the Braces Made in the USA signs throughout our offices. So, the next time someone asks where do your braces come from, you can proudly say:
Sherman and Briscoe Orthodontics and they are Made in the U.S.A.!

The American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (AJO-DO) is the scholarly journal of the orthodontic profession in the United States.
An interesting study was featured on the cover of a recent issue titled:
Do dental esthetics have any influence on finding a job?
In the study, 100 people responsible for hiring at their respective companies were shown pictures of 10 different people smiling who needed braces, and then those same people after correction of their smile.
The 100 people responsible for hiring were then asked about the likelihood of each person being hired, their honesty, their intelligence, and their efficiency at work.
What do you think they said?
Well, the pictures of people with corrected smiles were evaluated as being smarter and more likely to be hired then were the pictures of the same people with nonideal dental esthetics.
The researchers concluded that ideal smiles are considered more intelligent and have a greater chance of finding a job when compared with persons with nonideal smiles.
So what do you think, can your smile help you get a job?
